    Question Ideas wanted

    Hiyah,
Am doing some pages on my Grandfather's/Father's racing days/cars/speedway etc. For the moment have just uploaded and bashed out some pages -
    http://www.scriptfx.com/oldcars
Now, there will eventually be up to 300 pictures or so - can anyone think of a good way of doing this, rather than having several thumbnail pages etc, as this method would end up being - not all the pictures will I be able to identify, so will be a few "unknowns", also the drop down menu will get rather long! I am a bit stuck on this at the mo - I could, I suppose categorise them under model of car, but then looking at pictures I have, most are of jags and astons, so would still be rather a lot of pictures in those categories - I am stuck, brain has fried - gone on holiday :(:

Hi Billy, Im not too sure what you are getting at there, sounds like one page for each drop down, then just one page for all the image previews - or have I got that wrong. But in any event, the problem I have in trying to categories, is take for example the compnay names, there will be tons of pictures for Aston, Jag and Ford, but probably only 2 pictures for Maserati, Alto and some others - it is still going to end up with some drop downs having about 200 links and others only having about 5, also quite a few pictures will be totally unknown to me the company or model.

    Lightbulb

You could use text links for the pictures to open in a new window. With a lead in page for each make. and group the makes with fewer pictures onto one page.

    Aston Pics
    Ford Pics
    Maserati/Alto/other Pics

Make these links to a page with a list of the text links to each picture. Maybe even catorgarize the second page into years.
    Aston-1970 and so on.

    Hope that helped.

Hey, call me what you like - as long as its printable :D: most people call me MJ anyway - I will let you know if it works out. Just that I have so many photos here, wold be lovely for rest of family to be able to view them, especially nieces and nephews, and also, hopefully may be of interest to some UK car enthusiasts - actually there is one picture there of a John Whalley Special - a Ford car ... this was done specialy for my father, in searching the web, the John Whalley company still exists and is run by the guys grandfather, and the present John Whalley has photos of the old John Whalley racing with my father and is going to let me have copies .... small world.

BTW: just looked at your site, and the main table goes off my monitor screen (800x600) yet I dont get a horizontal scroll bar, so I have words missing from your table....... wonder why I dont get a scroll bar???

    Exclamation Hmmmmm

I built the site for 800x600...not sure why you wouldn't see it all.
That's the first time i've heard that. But, I will check it out and maybe shorten the sentences by increasing the number of lines.

    Thanks.

BTW...I looked at your site as well. (ScriptFX) I like it.

My site is just a couple weeks old. I am still adding stuff as I figure out how to do the things I want to do. (did that make sense)

Appreciate the tip...if you see anything else that doesn't work, I'd appreciate the critique. :HI:

P.S. well I looked...I actually built it for 1024x768. hmm...may have to work on that. thanks again

    Hi,
Just looked at your table, you have it set for 987 pixels, that is why its off my screen, but still doesnt explain why I dont get horizontal scroll bars :HI:
Only had very quick look, but one comment I would make ..... dispense with the cursor trailer, or whatever its called ...... dont know what other people think about them, but after a while, starts to get a little bit in the way :D: just my opinion, see what others think

    Cool Cursor Tail

LMAO....Well MJ the reaction to the tail is mixed. I've had people say they don't like it...I've had people tell me they love it...and...since I like it....guess which side wins. =)

I know what you mean about getting in the way...but the site is supposed to be a kinda catalog of what you can do with your site.
Hence the page transitions and other features not normally found in a business site. I take constructive criticism very well. I have my own creative style, and I don't take offence to anyone criticizing it. But, I hope you don't get your feelings hurt or upset if I disregard your critique. Just know...you can "not like" what I do and I will still respect you and encourge input. The people I have to satisfy are the ones that employ my services. If they don't like what I've done...It's good as gone.

Thanks again...please continue to suggest anything you may find about my site that doesn't work. I will consider the tail...the votes aren't all in yet. and mine only counts for ten. =)
