No commercial use???

Hi all.

I have a question about the legal use of Frontpage 2003.

I don't have it yet but I intend to, and I played around with the online trial on Microsoft's site a couple of days ago.

At one point I read part of what I believe is the EULA. I don't remember the exact words but I thought I saw something that said that "commercial use of this program is forbidden".

Now, I'm not a native English speaker, and I may have misinterpreted that.

I've looked and looked and looked again but can't find it back, sorry.

So my question: is it legal to design a website for someone with FP2003 and charge for it? Or is it strictly for personal, non-commercial use only?

You can use FP to create a site for a client and charge them for it...yes. Can you legally give them your copy of FP to update the site, NO? Can you buy FP and legally use it on more than one machine, PERHAPS, that depends on the license you have.

Absolutely justjay, that's what I wanted to know.

This was bothering me; I thought I needed a special license maybe. But I believed it was possible; alot has changed since I last used Frontpage (which was in the 95 era :eek: )

But as I expected: I misinterpreted it. Not the first time that happens :o:

The above is true, but...

It might also be referring to the trial version. They don't want you to be making money off of the trial version without buying the program from them. Same thing goes with the student/educational versions. Commercial use of those versions of the product are prohibited.

That makes sense. It would be pretty hard making anything decent with the online trial though, it's "a tad" slow to be productive :D:

I think the reason why I can't find that particular message back is that in order to run the online trial version some software needs to be downloaded first, and only once. I guess after the first session they don't show that agreement anymore.
