SORRY... IM BACK. LOL

I have recently changed my webhost from linux to a windows server and everything has been deleted. (which they did tell me would happen)

I am a little confused as to when and how to upload files to this new server.

I have one main domain which i started the account with.
sure-entertainment.co.uk

I have since bought various other domains such as steviecjimbo.co.uk and littentreedartford.co.uk

in the control panel i have added new folders for each of these domains for them to contain the relevant files for each website.

now heres the problem... i am trying to publish (in this instance) to the steviecjimbo site/folder. I click on publish, then enter http://www.steviecjimbo.co.uk and it opens the upload screen after entering my password and such. On the left i have all the files from my local computer (the steviecjimbo web) but on the right is a list of ALL of the folders and files on the server. Is this right? as it is quite awkward uploading new folders WITHIN this steviecjimbo folder. for example... within steviecjimbo is the folder images. inside images is another few folders. now i want to upload the images folder.. but not everything inside the folder. but cant see and easy way of doing it.

I finallt got used to working with linux and now im back at the start with this server. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I have put in a link as to show you the screen that i get when uploading.

Is there a way of me publishing, but when the upload screen opens... it only has the folder that i am trying to upload from on the right... ie.. steviecjimbo (local) on the left, and steviecjimbo (server) on the right.

at the moment it is steviecjimbo (local) on the left, and whole contents (server) on the right.

I have tried publishing and opening http://www.sure-entertainment.co.uk/steviecjimbo but it wont have none of it.

please help.

thanks

steve

your back ... AAAAARGH!

hahah, only joking!

Yes you need to convert the folder into a subweb. Open your live site, right click on the stevejimco folder and from the menu that comes up click on "convert to web" or words similar to that. You will get a message maybe that if you use themes and blah blah you may lose the navigationl blah blah .... but just go with the flow and let FP convert it into a subweb.

Now .... here is where I may be confused so you will have to work out whether what I am abaout to say makes sense or not. Looking at the links you give, your main serer account is
http://www.sure-entertainment.co.uk/

If that is correct, and the newly converted subweb of steviecjimbo resides within the sure-entertainment, then when you publish your local folder to the newly created subweb you publish to the address you have been trying to

http://www.sure-entertainment.co.uk/steviecjimbo

as now it has been converted to a subweb.

See how that works. I am afraid I am confused as to how you have your domains working all inside another domain hosted, you did try to explain previously but I didnt get the hang of it then ... lol ..... so I hope I am making sense now. The main thing is is to isolate your domain folders from all the others on the server and the only way to do that is to convert them into a subweb (assuming they already exist as a normal folder).

Looking at the folders you have on the right, I recognise some of those names and you will probably have to do the ssame to them. Convert them into subwebs before publishing from local computer.
