is there a way to insert a song so it plays without opening media player?

im creating a newsletter and have an mp3 linked on the web page, when clicked upon, it opens media player in a new window and plays the mp3.

is there a way that it would just play without opening media player? do i need to convert it to another format?

I don't think it will unless you have it as background music. If you click on a link, whatever it is has to open or download, not everyone allows say the Windows Media Player to be their default player to play sound when you click on a link.
