please click my test web here: http://zahntoons.tripod.com/women_cartoons.htm and scroll to very bottom thumnail number 53. When you click the thumbnail, that image comes up which I don't want. As you'll notice on the thumbnail, that watermark is different and I cannot get the image I add then save and publish, to be the one I want to replace that current one that keeps showing up with both names.
Any help appreciated.

current thumbnail on that bottom of page (#53) is not the one that shows when clicked. It's an old one I inserted with flaws. How to get the actual image you see there, when clicked...to show? Notice the text on couch & in pic on wall? It's different....

And a guess from a person very new to FP. Proceed with caution! I have to think the thumbnail is pointing to whatever you are telling it to so maybe the incorrect picture is cached somewhere or the picutre names are getting messed up. I'd find the incorrect picture whereever you are storing the site images and remove the image from the site. See what happens. You could see if something is cached and causing this behavior. I found the following on the forum last week. Worked like a charm for me on a DWT that was not updating all pages in the site. I cannot explain whay it worked but it did.
Delete all the *.web files in the Web Server Extensions cache folder. To do this, follow these steps.
Note The *.web files are created by Microsoft FrontPage to store metadata that is used to communicate with a Web site. When you delete these files, FrontPage creates new versions of these files as they are required.
a. Click Start, click Run, type %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache in the Open box, and then click OK.
b. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
c. On the File menu, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to delete the files.
3. Delete all FrontPageTempDir folders. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, and then click Search.
b. Click All files and folders.
c. In All or part of the file name box, type Frontpagetempdir.
d. Click More advanced options, and then click to select any one of the following options that are not already selected:
• Search system folders
• Search hidden files and folders
• Search subfolders
e. Click Search, and then wait for the search to finish.
f. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
g. On the File menu, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to delete the folders.

I am not sure it would be a cached image as the wrong one shows for me and I have not been to that page before. I would go to the live site, open it up and delete the image WOM53_demo.gif - make sure of the spelling i.e. upper and lower case of your new image, having deleted the current image from the live site drag and drop the new image into its place. Click on the refresh icon of FrontPage you can also click on the refresh hyperlinks. As long as your new image is called exactly the same, including upper and lower case. Then it should now show. It could just be you are publishing the old image all the time, not the new

I'm afrain with all the steps MGS mentions though, I'd ***** that gallery up though. As for OME suggestions, I click on that URL & the FP icon isn't accessible so cannot work on the site live. any other suggestions?
PS: I tried deleting the image & saving the page and re-publishing it....then I re-add the image (that's the good one) and save and republish the page but the same thing still happens.

regarding the tutorial on how to work on live site, when I get to the part that says OPEN WEB there is no WEB FOLDERS box on bottom of work area on lower left. Also, since this is hosted on a freebie server like Tripod, can you even work on it live? I am thinking no

Also, since this is hosted on a freebie server like Tripod, can you even work on it live? I am thinking no Yes you can becuase I work on my Free Tripod site live
Well if you dont get the web folders just use the address bar on that box and type in your live website publishing address.

I don't know what you are talking about.
Open FrontPage. Click on file / Open Web - a box appears, so at this point - in the address bar type in your publishing address that Tripod gave you. You can then open the live site

Well I am not sure what you are doing as without a doubt that should work. Why? well becuase you have deleted the wrong image from the live server, it is no longer there, So it cant be seen - and you have published the correct image. I assume you also deleted the wrong image from local website, so it no longer exists anywhere on either website? In which case, the image is extinct, and cannot be seen.
So Try refreshing your browser
Try recalculating hyperlinks
Try refreshing FrontPage - on live site in folders view - click on the refresh button
If all those fail change the name of the image and link to the new named image

that particular website was in a folder called "my webs5" and it appeared in MY DOCUMENTS as did a few other aggravating folders. I use MY DOCUMENTS for storing lots of other folders. Well, last night I deleted it because there were so many folders. Now I cannot access it in FP but thought it was OK to delete because it was primarily stored in FP.I'm hoping the inevitable didn't happen. Anyway to recover or directly find that folder in FP? Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!

FrontPage does NOT store any websites, it only connects you to where they are. You open the website up in FP (but the website is still in its original location) .. when you close down FrontPage ... nothing is stored.
So when you deleted your website from the My Documents folder .. you literally deleted it. Check the recycle bin and if it is in there, click on the restore link. If it is not in there, then you will have to open up the live site again, and publish the live site back to your computer.

Thought FP would've kept the original folder as I note it's tendency in changing certain things in the html as you go along at certain times. All my mistake then. Still have alot to learn. Alas, as I delete things I always empty my recycle bin - so.........I lost it all. Of course, as you say, I can publish live site (http://zahntoons.tripod.com/) back to my computer.
This will be my main job to tackle for now! So, I still need to find how to do this and need to study all your previous steps you've mentioned.
Btw, will all those other live links at bottom of page also be duplicated?
onlyme

No, All FP does is edit the pages etc in their original folder, which is the location specified when creating the website. By default in the My Documents Folder.
Maybe you want to consider only deleting your recycle bin weekly or longer, then you will have a chance to reclaim anything accidentally deleted. Also for your information. When you open your website up in frontpage and you delete anything, it is permanently deleted, it does not go to the recycle bin.
Publishing your live site back to computer is exactly the same as publishing your puter copy to live site, only the address is different.
Btw, will all those other live links at bottom of page also be duplicated? why should they be duplicated?

..........I meant, will FP create separate pages within FP for each link?
Also wondering if all those Tripod ads will be a part of the new pages after publishing back to my computer?
onlyme

FP will publish your web as you have it, if you have a link going to a page, it will publish the page as well. Just like when you publish the site for first time from puter to live site.
Will it publish the tripod adverts, probably but then you can delete them.
You don't really have much choice in what you do, except to publish from live site to computer. So just go ahead and publish, then ask questions if things are not as you imagined.

....looking right now into opening the site live....I did refresh & of course, that didn't work. The FP icon on the top tool bar is still dead. Of course all the other icons like instant messenger, discuss, print etc. are all active. Trying to figure why that darn FP icon wont activate when I put my cursor on it..... hold on.............

Forget the icon!
Open your website the correct way. As in our tutorial and as advised previously.

OK! Here's what happens so far, in following the tutorial (very specifically I might add).
#1. I click FILE>OPEN WEB>but then in LOOK IN: there is NO WEB FOLDERS
icon as shown in tutorial, only a MY NETWORK PLACES as I use FP2002.
#2. I go down to Web Name: & type http://zahntoons.tripod.com/ at bottom
and then click OPEN but my entire FP work page or area turns blank or
grey
Hmmmmmmmmmm.

You opened it before, so I am not sure what you are doing differently. But as you have opened the live site before and worked on it, it will appear in your "Recent webs" so with FrontPage Open click on File/Recent Webs and a link to http://zahntoons.tripod.com/ will be there, click on it
DINROCK

..........when I go & click the http://zahntoons.tripod.com/ URL, I get this:
THE SERVER COULD NOT COMPLETE YOUR REQUEST. cONTACT YOUR ISP OR WEB SERVER ADMISTRATOR TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SERVER HAS FP SERVER EXTENSIONS OR SHAREPOINTE TEAM SERVICES FROM MS ENABLED.
It seems like it worked before because of the fact that particular file was in my computer which it is not now, of course (when I need it)

........so I foresee what needs to be done is I can right click copy all my pages & create a whole new folder to put all them in.....of course I'll need to make new photogalleries, but anyway............

If you cannot open your live site becuase of that message, then the chances are you cannot publish back to it. Also if you copy the live pages then paste into a FP webpage, you need to create a website first, you cannot just manually create the folders.
I would close down FrontPage. Reboot your computer. Start up again and open FrontPage and have one more try and opening the "recent webs". If you still get the same message then it sounds like your Extensions may be corrupted. You will have to access your account at Tripod and reinstall them. you will then have to wait a few minutes for them to take effect. Also close down FP and restart it before trying to open the website again.

I did appreciate your input. Prior to reading this, I did go ahead and start rebuilding this particular website by right click copying and yes, I did create a whole new web to put the pages in. Stored it in the usual c:/ on my hard drive & made sure it doesn't appear in MY DOCUMENTS. I like to keep that folder clean as I use alot of zip folders to store there & send to clients. I definitely wasn't aware of the fact that deleting that website folder out of MY DOCS would have caused me to lose it (had so much faith FP would keep it safe!)...still learning after all these moons I reckon. I may delete that Tripod site after coppying all my pages though, and simply publish it to my web host and "officially" launch it as I pretty much have a good idea how all of it looks. I really appreciate your help...this forum is a great place for help as always.
