View Full Version : hover and applet query
ok i'm on a roll of questions here
after changing pc's the sites that i had built all developed small grey boxes (online) where the hover buttons should have been
also when i imported the files from the web sites onto hard drive i had lost some jpgs and applets
why was this?
also when importing from a web site i untick all the boxes so that i am not limited to text etc
is it possible to import whole site at a time instead of just a page
thanks again

Hi,
Try publishing your site to hard drive rather than importing, then you will get all the files, jpegs, etc - its same as publishing to server - only in reverse - this time you are publishing from server to hard drive.
p.s. I didnt just post this answer .... I'm meant to be sick in bed .... not on forum :D: hopefully the magic dust I sprinkled will enable only you to see this posting

No, no big sighs!! We've all been there, made the mistakes - dont know the answers and sometimes we dont even know the questions to ask to get the answers we want ... Hee, at least you know the question.
Open up Front Page and click on Open Web (not sure which version FP you are using, I have 2002) and open your site up on server, then click on publish web - make sure that you have the option for "all pages" checked, not just changaed pages, you will be asked at some stage where exactly you want the web published to (sorry long time since Ive done this, having to delve deep into the memory banks) FP will either create a new folder for you or you will have to specify one, so you want something like C:\\my documents ......... \myweb (not sure Ive got those slashes going in the right direction :?: ) but I hope you get the idea, then click on publish.
So you see, its like publishing to the server from hard drive, but now in reverse, hope you understand all that and I ve not left anyting out.
ok will give it a bash
thanks a lot
so glad i found this site
as the saying goes "I'LL BE BACK"
