I'm starting to hear that Frontpage is a dinosaur with many bugs and is generally NOT used by the web publishing public; is this true???? :flame:

There is the old saying .... A bad workman will blame his tools.
Also a program is only as good as the person using it.

The people who complain about FP mainly are those that have never used it, or those that have, but havent a clue how to use it and make mistakes ... of course blaming FrontPage in the process.

you only have to look at the number of hosting companies that offer frontpage support to know just how popular the program is.

It is an excellent program when used correctly ...... but people never bother reading a manual or the help files ... they just go ahead doing what they think is teh correct thing, then moan when it all goes wrong ... blaming FP .....

Hummm.

People who use Dream Weaver don't like it.
But then if they only knew what they could do with both.

FrontPage is a complex creature.
You can write code within virtualy any environment and include that creation within FrontPage.

Use Visual Studio to create a Web Part, then add it in to FrontPage.
Write code in NotePad then bring on in.
Take some time to create some Java with Dream Weaver, then incororate the code into your FrontPage Web.

You can use code written in VB, C++, C#, JS or whatever.

Create, maintain any ODBC database.
Integate asp, php, even include perl if you know how.

FrontPage will let you decide how to create, and maintain your web.

So is it going to become extinct, I don't think so.

As far as bugz, get your copy Patched
Better yet, get FrontPage 2002 or prefferably FrontPage 2003
Ideally, use both 2002 and 2003 side by side.
And get them Patched and keep them Patched
Just like you should be keeping Windows Patched
Goto Office Update (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx)
After all, FrontPage is part of the Microsoft Office Family

Good point MJ!

I hope not. I have 4 versions of FP and still tend to use 2K as my pack mule.
