Hi,

Just upgraded from FP2000 to FP2003. I like the new interfaces however ....

In FP2K, I used to be able to double click on an Access db in the FPDB folder and open in in Access. Now, I get a message saying 'the file is not in your intranet or trusted domain therefore Access will not open it for security reasons (or something like that),

Any idea what I need to change to correct that?

Hmmmm that sounds like a setting problem.

I run both 2k and 2003 and haven't had that trouble.

I think I've determined it's the proxy settings on this network. If I uncheck the proxy server I can edit the local database. Unfortunately, that also prevents me from accessing the remote site.

Hmmm That is a wierd one.

I'll bet I'm not having that problem because my connection uses DHCP and automatically assigns me an ip on the network ie: 192.168.0.3 etc...

What are you using for an OS, WinXP with one of the Service Packs? I'll see if our resident network specialist has an idea.

This one is strange.

You can open your site fine, then when you attempt to open a db in that web you are given an error.

When bypassing the proxie you would need to have direct access to the gateway, otherwise you would not be able to break out at all. So with this, if you disable the proxie and are still able to open your site with frontpage, are you working with a disk based web?

Hey Bud,
Glad you could join.

I think they have an internal network with a local database connected to the intranet. Then somewhere along the line a proxyserver that provides www access.

If I understand correctly they can't connect to the local database unless the proxy settings are disabled because MS Win security won't allow it.

With regard to proxy settings and IE
Robert showed me a trick with FP and IE Proxy settings for connecting to his server with accounts where the DNS has not resolved yet. If I set my IE proxy settings to an ip on his system, I can connect directly to his server and edit an unresolved site with FP using the typical open web... http://www.example.com/. Of course I can't connect to anything else until I reset my proxy settings back to normal.

Along this line, I wonder if there is some sort of conflict with their proxy settings or maybe a security conflict.

I've been thinking...

The db opened with FP2000, or before.

Fp 2003 requires Win XP or Win 2000 with IE 6.
Security is set a bit different with IE 6.

So
'the file is not in your intranet or trusted domain therefore Access will not open it for security reasons

Open IE, select the Tools menu, then Internet Options...

From the Security tab, select Trusted Sites
Click the Sites button
Un-Tic Require Server verification(https)...
Add your site to the list.
Click OK

Try to open your DB with FP
If it doesn't open...
Repeat the setting change in IE with the exception that you add your site to the Intranet Zone

No luck yet. But did find article 303650 in the MS Knowledge Database that addresses this problem. Will try their workaround.

Hi,

I noticed that when you upgrade from FP2002, 2002 to FP2003, the website does not work fine.

It always hangs, databases do not open.

What I did was uninstalling MS Office + Frontpage completely, even from the Registery, restarted the computer then installed FP2003. It worked fine.

If you just upgrade or put FP2003 on the same computer with FP2000 or 2002, the web site that has been created by the earlier version does not work properly.
