Hi everyone! In most large sites, there is a "Search" feature where you can search the site. I was wondering if there's any way to make one using Frontpage.
Thanks!

Hi,
I cant remember what I started off using, whether it was FP related or what, but did not like it whatever it was, as it did not customise very well and would not exclude files easily, so I ended up using the freebie from Atomz (http://www.atomz.com/applications/search/trial.htm) - at least I think it is still free ..... pages can be customized to fit in with website, you just have to have a small atomz logo on the results pages .....

anyway ..... I have not had to use a new one for year plus ... so not sure what else there is ....

if you want to give it a test run, use the search on this site www.scriptfx.com ..... I suppose it still works :D: I havent done a brilliant job, but you will get the idea. You can have stats sent to you showing what kind of questions people ask .....

Not a FP search as you asked for .... but :woohoo:

Thanks!! I'm waiting for the email now. It looks very useful! Hmmm... this website is a lot more helpful than the other ones I've gone to!
I like how you made your website too! I see the search feature - it works very well!

While we're at it, surprise! I have more questions! Some are really complicated. But here they are...

1) Is there any way to make polls?
2a) Here's when it gets complicated. Anyway, when you go to
Insert...
Form...
Option button...
Exactly how does the "Submit" button work? How do you decide which link it goes to, or can you make it into a poll?
2b) Still in "Form", Here are my questions about Drop-down Boxes.
Again, how do you choose which link it would go to?
Secondly, in drop-down lists, if there are two, can you choose what the second one displays by the choice of the first one? I know that makes no sense, so go here to http://autos.msn.com/ . See the drop-down boxes? Is there any way to do something like that?

3) Some websites (like Xara) have a thing where there are links at the top, then when you put the cursor over it it brings a drop-down list links. Any way to do this?

My fourth question was going to be a good program for making Nav bars and stuff like that, but by your site, I think I'll look at Xara! Thanks!

Thanks a lot in advance. I know I have a lot of questions and very few answers. Thanks again =))

yup .. that is done with the Xara menu maker or Xara webstyle ....... it is an addin for Frontpage .... for a far more customisable one, I use www.sothink.com the dhtml menu from there, but the easiest to use by far is the Xara.

I have all Xara programs ... addiction .... they are brilliant, especially their vector graphic prog XaraX .. wow ...... Downside though to the menu making ones, you are limited to their graphics and their configurations, which compared to say the sothink menu are limited, but having said that, there is a huge choice anyway.

Re your Poll question .... Pass .... I dont know of any automatic built in feature of FP that will do one ... as for using the forms to do one .... again ... pass!! However, do a search on www.google.com as I know you can get "ready made" polls for putting onto websites, you just choose your questions.
