Hey there...
Finding the TalkFrontPage site is like finding a twenty dollar bill on the sidewalk...pleasing! Simple questions for you in regard to:

Copyrights. Most web sites have them at the bottom of the page. I have'nt put it on my pages yet but will do so, soon. My question in regard to <copyright> is...

Other then knowing who visits our web sites and when, does the Copywrite statement really give us any security?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next question is related to files.

I wanted to link to an Exe. but my FrontPage2003 informed me that it didn't recognize the file type. It gave me an option to do so...but I hesitated because I was not sure if it would throw the "proverbial' monkey wrench into the program and mess up my site. Is it safe to check ALL those little boxes?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next question:

My Update does not automatically register each day when I publish to the site. Isn't it supposed to?

Instead, I change the date format every few days to show that updates are taking place.

More questions later... Thank you in advance!

A twenty dollar bill found on the sidewalk?? I am not sure where you live but I'm moving there. :p:

Welcome to the forum.

I will give my opinion here on your questions.

1. No not really, a copywrite stamp on a webpage is kind of like a lock on your frontdoor. It is good for the honest people but for the thief it means nothing. No to take that one step further should you use it?? Shoudl you add it anyway?? I think so, it can't hurt as it might keep one person from stealing your hard work which happens all the time on the WWW.

2. It is okay to say Yes, FP will say that for all kinds of files it is used to .HTML so most other it will say that. If you are trying to make a .exe downloadable that is easy enough, just upload it to your webspace and then hyperlink to it like you would any other link.

3. This one I am not sure about, I don't use that feature anymore.. The reason I don't add the "date" that a page was updated is from this standpoint.. Let's say you have an information page that got updated on April 3rd, 1999... now that is the last date that it Needed to be Updated but when someone goes to your site they might think WOW this informations is old and may be out of date... Of course that is just my 2 cents and I am sure someone will set me straight on my opinion.

Well, I agree with Robert on all accounts ..... I am not a keen fan of the update thingy either for that exact same reason .. people may think your information is old just becuase has not been updated for few days, then find a site with todays date and think better information, when in fact they last updated in 1922 and only just got around to updating it to 1964 information ... still 40 years out of date - just that they did it today:roll:

For your input! I decided to leave the update message in for the time being. However I did add the copywrite symbol. Thanks again.
