View Full Version : Can't unzip file.

Hi all,
I hope someone can help me. I want to upgrade a program, but when I try to unzip the file I get a message that "Winzip can not open c:\my document\sys1.cab because it is not in the Standard Microsoft CAB format. (as defined in mid 1998) The "Signature bytes" required by the Microsfot CAB specification are missing.
The files it can not open are: sys1.cab, user1.cab,and data1.cab.

Hi,
I am not sure you are meant to unzip those files, can you give the url of where you downloaded the upgrade ..... I would like to take a look at what the original program is and the upgrade .... thanks .....

Hi ,
Sure here is the info. www.embroideryonline.com. I wanted to update my Magic Box, reader/wirter box I have the v3.3A version.
So I looked for that version to upgrade. Once you are on the site there is a download center you can click on to find my upgrade. I'd be very interested in knowing what you find out.

CAB files are not to be "unzipped" as one would unzip a zip file. A CAB file is a collection of compressed installation or system files that are only accesses during upgrades or installs either by the SYSTEM or the Install process. CAB is short for Cabinet.
So why you are trying to "decompress" a CAB file - is not at all clear to me....

Hi,
I couldnt find the upgrade download, can you be more precise and actualy give the link to the download- found a download for a 3.3 but it didnt say it was an upgrade, but nothing for a 3.3A

JustJay, Thank you very much, had I known that it was not to be unzipped I certainly would not have spent my time trying to.
I guess the support person I spoke to at the place I purchased the Magic Box, did not know anything about CAB either, since he never said to me that it is not to be unzipped.

Was there not an install.exe or setup.exe file that came with this software?

The only referrence I have is the page that says Download Center It begins by saying you can download any of the updates or files they have on their website. I guess I was downloading and update. The only thing I can give you is:
www.embroideryonline.com/en/Di_Center/download_center.htm. I got that off the bottom of the Download Center page I printed out.

Yes but you said yo have the v3.3A version, but I cannot see any downloads for it May I suggest you contact the owner of the website as this is more, I think at the moment, a question of what should you be downloading if anything ...... and at the same time you can ask how you do the upgrade.

Hi Jayjay,
When I purchased the Magic Box I tried to install the software but it would not work. I contacted the company, they told me it was not the correct software and that I could download the right one from their site. So I did. I also needed to have the correct driver, even though I had the correct software, I now had to get the correct driver. I had to contact them about that, and again they gave me instructions to download the driver.
Yes, I believe I did get the files you are talking about.
