I am working on my first site (hi awasson--tee, hee).

Lots of things have not worked--which I assumed was because I didn't know what I was doing--and that was often the case. Now I suspect the host is responsible for some of it.

1. Server: Linux, Apache 1.3.23 (Unix). When form email didn't work, I put in a trouble ticket. They told me to reinstall the FP extensions. I tried and got this plus more:

Error: Unable to create a web at the URL "/" because FrontPage information was unexpectedly encountered beneath the corresponding directory ("/home/colossal/public_html/"). If you are certain that there is no FrontPage web at "/home/colossal/public_html/700-fossil", you should delete the file "/home/colossal/public_html/700-fossil/_vti_pvt/services.cnf" or rename it to "services.org".

I am certian there is a "700-fossil" subweb and two more.

So I contacted support again--they tried the same thing and emailed me the whole message--lots of help--lol.

2. The extensions were supposedly working before they moved my site to a different server.

3. I think I recall reading something about the host having to do something to make subwebs work.

4. Can I do something like the workaround below or does my host have to do something.

When you get errors like that on an Apache, it has been my experience that the best thing to do is wipe your files off your web server (do a back up)...get your host to resinstall Mail and Server Extensions then PUBLISH via HTTP all of your website/files.

I cut and pasted Jay's answer into a support ticket. The host was super surprised, by it--well maybe totally shocked is more like it. Really being super cooperative now too.

Fortunately my site hasn't been announce and there is nothing there, which is not already on my computer--so it's an easy fix.

Again, thanks.
